Tweet Ups - Meet Ups

Postby Sheryl Loch » Tue Jan 27, 2009 11:39 pm

Have you been to a local Tweet Up in your area?

We are going to our first Blog and Beer in Las Vegas. I think it will be cool to actually meet some other Bloggers and Tweeters in person.

I know the 30 Day Challenge had some meet ups (not exactly Tweet ups). I did not make it to any of those.

Twitter seems to be a great way to let everyone know where any local meet ups are.

I'll let you know how the Beer and Blog goes - I don't drink beer so, that will take out the blogging drunk factor. LOL!

We made to the Las Vegas Beer and Blog Thursday night.

There were a little over 40 people in and out during the evening. This was the 3rd week they have had the event and the attendance is growing. I think The Freakin Frog will soon be to small for the gathering.

So, that was exciting!

As most anyone on Twitter knows there was a huge number of tweets about the Twestival. This was a charity party held in over 200 cities all over the world (ok, I know from people I follow about the events in Canada & the USA). The event was to raise money to help bring clean water to Ethiopia, Uganda and India.

I have no idea how many people attended the events collectively but, I am guessing it was a pretty big number. I see on the Twestival site today that they are starting to give out totals of monies raised. As of right now the are stating $250,000 and still have 80 cities to count.

I think that is amazing that most of the advertising was done over Twitter 140 characters at a time.

We did not attend the Las Vegas event but, from people I have talked to - they had a great time. I am sure I will be hearing more about it when we go to the Beer and Blog Thursday night.

Just thought you might like to see what you can do with your 140 characters.
