The major local paper of the Hackney area has written an editorial about the situation of the Well Street shops and their "charity" landlord.
It makes several important, hard-hitting points, including that the poor of the area relies on these shops.
But they've got the figures slightly wrong: they say that the rent rises demanded are "nearly 100 per cent", whereas in fact some of them are faced with rent demands of nearly 300 per cent. Perhaps the paper is being cautious in case of being sued by the charity!
