Our previous, "Shop Locally" article, listed a load of benefits for a community and the wider area when people do their shopping in their local area.
This new article introduces the "Buy Local" campaign which is live in many cities in the US.
It explains the "Local Multiplier Effect", a term coined by the famous 1930s economist John Maynard Keynes, and also introduces and links to the Institute for Local Self-Reliance, and to an article at a US website which gives some information about the "Buy Local" campaign.
Thank you Brian - it's great to have your comment on our little local site! I completely agree with what you wrote. I was brought up in the countryside and I miss it when it comes to local food produce. Each summer I spend time in a small island off the south coast of England (called Isle of Wight) and being an island much of which has an olde worlde character, there's wonderful fresh produce to be bought.
