Search Google Images with Creative Commons

Postby Sheryl Loch » Thu Jun 11, 2009 10:05 pm

I just found this Search Google Images by Creative Commons. It is not implemented on the regular Google Image Search page yet. I would like to think that they will be putting it in place very soon. You can however use it from the page link above.

Since Yahoo has this feature to be used with Flickr, Google had to keep up with them if they want their pictures searched with ease.

Images searches are really hitting the big time. People are looking outside of their own camera range to find the perfect picture for their site or blog post.

Go ahead and try it out, if you are on the regular Google Image Search and see that they have added it there, please let us know.

Nice find Sheryl, I just started using Flickr's Creative Commons search feature for blog post images and now I have another source. I was buying image rights through sites like iStockPhoto.com and that was getting pretty expensive. I allow Creative Commons use on many of my own photos on Flicker. I'll have to figure out how to add it too my images Google has indexed.

Google Images Search is stepping up its game!

They now offer an even better Advanced Search parameters so, you can find the perfect image!

Withe the Advanced search you can put in your search term for pictures tagged with that term...
You can also set Content types - any content, news content, faces, photo content, clip art, line drawings

When it comes to setting Size - Medium, Large, Small, Icon, Then it goes to Larger that 400x300 up to Larger than 70MP.

You also have the option to put in the numbers for an Exact Image Size.

The New Big Addition - The Aspect Ratio - Choose from Tall, Square, Panoramic

Also pick your File Type - JPG, BMP, GIF, PNG

If you ONLY want sites that are listed on a particular Domain you just place the site in the correct box & it will only return images from that domain.

You also still have the Usage Rights Filter so, you will not need to sort through pages of pictures that you will not have the rights to use.

Now everyone say - "Thank you Ms. Google for making image search sooooo easy".

Re: Search Google Images and make a Montage

Postby Sheryl Loch » Fri Aug 28, 2009 7:03 am

There is a new graphics toy!
This new toy pulls pictures from Google Images for your keywords & makes a super cool collage.

Montage, is really kind of fun.
I started with putting the keyword Terriers in and came up with
Terriers Montage. Under Advanced Settings - You can adjust the pixel size and also if you want high or low quality.

You can just put in a phrase or or name and get a variety of pics that have tags of either word.
If you want a certain phrase or name then put "keyphrase" this will be just like any other search and do an exact match.

Here is one for "Cait Hagar" exact Cait's montage This one is High Quality and takes only a few more seconds to make.

If you want a montage of pics from your domain put in "domain.com" here is one from "sherylloch.com" Montage.
I can't get it to make one from my FaceBook profile. Why? Because faceBook is evil!

HINT - each time you refresh the page the pictures change. If you get one you like then hit the Download and save it. If ya want to keep trying for a new arrangement just hit Refresh or redefine your key phrase.

Have fun!!
