Well, I have just love Twitter!

You can make mini (140 character) post. People that are following you can see what you are doing. You can also find friends, family, your favorite marketer or blogger to follow so, you know what they are doing.

Ok, I also made the Twitter Badge. What does that mean? Well I have placed it on my social networking profiles. The mini badge shows your last post, this will at least give people any idea of what you Tweet about.
Hint - If you are going to Tweet a link, do it when it will be your last Twitter for a while so, the link will be displayed on your badge for the longest time.

I have found a great way to search for recent words or phrases that are being posted on Twitter.

This way you can find people with the same interest as yourself.

Your Twitter home page has a search but, it is only for a name or location. That is very limited if you ask me.

If you have downloaded TWHIRL it comes with search scan.
Twhirl is a desktop app that you can download & receive messages right on your desktop. When a new Tweet comes in you will hear a bell & the message will appear in the bottom corner of your screen for just a few seconds.
You can also send Tweets from Twirl.The newest update of TWhirl now connects Twitter & Friend Feed in you Twirl dodad.
I think that may help the FriendFeed stats go up/
I find that FriendFeed is a bit easier to follow all the comments made by other people.
We will see how it goes.

TweetDeck is a new Air Application that is for Twitter.

I have found that I really like this one. You can put your friends into groups.
You can have 1 column just for a Summize search through your friends or through out all of Twitter that updated automatically
Replies can have a column of their own.
Close the columns that you do not use

So you want to send a Twitter message out but, you are at Grandma's and she ain't got no computer thingamiggy & your cell is dead. Oh no, what will you do?

Well if you have set up an account at Tweet Call then you may be able to get that tweet out.

Tweet call is a toll free number that you can dial and tell it your secret PIN number - then just speak your message to be tweeted out. Remember if you are a mumbler the tweet it sends may not be exactly what you said, it will be what the voice to text thinks you said. LOL!

It is free to sign up & get your personal PIN number, you will have to give your Twitter password when you register so, it can log into Twitter for you.

Just remember to write your PIN number so, you can carry it with you in case you need it. Oh, might want the toll free number to dial also.

Foller.me is a very fast way to find out about people on Twitter.
You can place the person’s username into the search bar & find out a bit about them at a glance.

It will show you their Bio, number of followers/following, number of updates…

Next is a list of Tag clouds that is made from their last 200 tweets sent out. This will save you from reading all those tweets yourself.

Then a tag of recent # tags the person used.

Who they have mentioned in the form of @’s.

And a map of where their followers are located.

I think it could be handy when you get new followers so, you can get a quick overview before wasting the time to really look at their profile and tweets to see if they are someone you may want to follow back.

Is it a life changer in the Twitter world?
Probably not but, it may be something to try out and see if you like it.

Search Twitter for local people in any area!

Meet Up or Tweet Ups have become very popular. They have been using Twitter to find local people for everything from general get together to charity events.

You can search your local peeps with a site called Near By Tweets. This will let you put in your address, city, state, zip code...You can then search up to 100 miles from that area. You can also include keywords. This would be handy if you needed a specialist in that area.
Once you have clicked search it will pull up a list of tweople in the area, you can place your curser over the persons picture and see their last tweet. You can also hit refresh & it will pull up more pictures of locals. On the right side you will see a list of tweets with their username & city, state.

Just another way to bring your online & offline community together.

Well, I found this cutsie little Twitter Banner that I just have to show you.

Look it even shows your last Tweet. You just plug in your Twitter Username (No Password Needed), Pick a Banner Style & copy out the code. You can get HTML or BBC. Great for Forums, Myspace, Blogs.....

Just Click it & you can go straight to my Twitter Profile & follow me.

Way to simple eh?

Now, that I think about it - you should already be following me. If you aren't following yet, then get over there & do it now. You have been missing out on soooo much fun.

Do you know who has access to your Twitter account?

You know when you use some applications you click a button to Tweet & you then see a page that ask you to Deny or Allow this application to go to your Twitter account. These application then let you log in with your Twitter ID & password.

Many of these applications are very safe & do not do anything that may harm your account. Every once in a while we see an application that does use your info to tweet out messages as you. That stinks!

You really might want to check in your Twitter account to see who all does have access.
To do this only takes a minute & could keep your account a bit safer. I will say that sites like Tweetmeme, Twitterly, Twibes... are probably just fine. Watch for any site that you do not recognize. It may be one that you tried out once, you may not have even realized that it would still be allowed access. It may also be one that you no longer use, you might as well get rid of it just in case.

To check the sites allowed -
Log into your twitter account (on the web),
Click your Settings tab,
Click Connections - here you will see which sites you have allowed.
Click Revoke Access to any that you do not want.

See it only takes a minute & may save you a bit of trouble later on. I would suggest you check back on your allowed sites at least once a month.

So far I have only found 1 site that I truly have No Clue what it was or where it came from.

I did not see your reply until today. Ooops, my bad!
I originally thought of leaving the link in a comment but, was afraid others may think I was being spammy & do the same.

Since I have kept check on my Allowed apps, I have not had anymore Odd followers. The odd people that I get tweets from are actually people I know & like.

I hope this info will help your friends keep the Gremlins at bay!
