The blog is now beginning to look good, with nice new header image and photos accompanying the blog posts, and including the "sexy bookmarks" plugin.
The site was created to support the Save Well Street Market cause, since the landlord, who is a local "charity" (I put that in quotes because, d'you think their actions are charitable?!) are demanding rent increases of well over 200%, and also telling the shop-owners that they have to spend many tens of thousands (which the shop-keepers don't have) on fixing their delapidated upstairs & roofs. But they were like that when the shop-keepers moved in, and they did the charity a favour by cleaning and renovating the downstairs of each building so that they're nice shops.
Several of the shops have had to close down as a result of the bullying & demands of the "charity". The latest a family with small children who have no other means of income on the horizon. The shop had been owned by the man's family for many years.
We've now had interest in the cause from national UK press, BBC TV, BBC online and BBC radio. Things are hotting up.
