RSS Feeds Full vs Partial

Postby Sheryl Loch » Tue May 19, 2009 3:30 am

Is it better to put out a Full Rss Feed or a Partial?

I understand the argument for both and they both make total sense.

Full Feed–
This would mean that lazy people would not need to click for the entire story.

If you interlink then any scrappers picking up your content through the feed would be building backlinks for you.

Could cut down bounce rate if readers are only scanning and running.

Amazon Kindle sales require you put out a full feed.

Partial Feed -
People will need to come to your site for the full story.

People could read additional post once they get to your blog.

Handier for people to comment since they are already there.

People will be able to see your button’s, banners, ads that you have on the sidebar.

Could increase bounce rate if people get to the story and don’t stay for any reason.

I am sure there are more Pro’s and Con’s for using Full RSS Feeds vs. Partial RSS Feeds that I just can not think of at the moment. That is why I put the post here so, you could fill in any blanks that I have left.

I would love to hear which you use and why.

Call me naive, stupid, lost.... But, I was on a board the other day & found a thread about stealing RSS Feeds.

They have a program that turns your partial feed into a full feed so they can auto post your articles it to their splog. I thought ok, I can see how easy that would be & not a huge deal....

Then I read how it also automatically strips out any links you have anywhere in the article it steals from you.

That is when I thought...."Wooo, super bad thieven, no good rotten %&^*'s they are".

I guess when people are that lazy & greedy they just don't care who worked to write that great content. They just want to use & abuse. They are a thief just as if they came & took my belongings out of my yard. I hope Bad Karma jumps up & bites their lil freakin heads off!
