Google just passed out their new page rank.
The good, the bad, and the Ugly!!
I saw that many were getting their new ranks showing up in the Google Toolbar, I had to go check my blog. I freaked out! Yes, I was baffled once again by what I saw.
My main page had been a PR of 2 for the last, how ever long but, since I have been getting so many more direct search results coming in that I assumed my page rank would go up (at least to a 9, lol). To my surprise it dropped, yes, it was at a 1.
Now, we know that Google is just messing with me right?
Afraid not! My main domain page did really drop. The upside is that my Moxxor blog (that is on the same domain but is a different section) did go up from no rank to a 1.
I had to think as to why this happened – I am still not sure but, I will give you my guesses.
On forum sig lines I run my plain domain URL & just a couple of months ago I also added my Moxxor blog as direct link to my sig lines. That leads me to believe that the PR passed on from the sig lines in forums was divided to both my links. Remember I am no Matt Cutts so, this is a guess!
I also seldom leave my main domain link in comments on blogs. I normally pick a perma link to a particular article that I feel is somewhat connected to the original article. Many of these blog comments come from Do Follow blogs.
For anyone that does not know, I run the B2Evo blog script and have more than 1 blog on the single domain. Each of the add on blogs has the ability to set keywords, tags, SEO preferences for links….. This makes them somewhat their own site.
So, just wondering if at some point will I be glad that I am raising the rank of more than just the main domain? I am thinking so!
I will reiterate that I am seeing more Google (Yahoo, MSN…) searches coming in than ever before and the people seem to be sticking around and even going to multiple pages (I’m sure that is good). I was told that PR is a very slight factor in deciding search results.
Ok, so how did your Page Rank come out and what are you doing to better it for next time?
Or do you stress over PR?
