Does A Networking Sites Page Views Change Your Mind

Well you guys are in luck.

I got the new Facebook set up & it sucks big time.
I logged in, it had the box telling me how to use the new FB. Great - whatever.
I looked through it, closed the box & then hit my HOME button.

BLANK! NOTHING!
I hit the LIVE NEWS - NOTHING!
I still had the adverts on the side but ZERO updates from any of my friends.

I will say that the new set up is a HUGE time saver. I go there & there is nothing to see, read, or answer....except the ads on the side which I really don't care about.

I'm not sure if it is happening to others, if it was a glitch, or maybe no one I know has updated all day (or ever).

So see, Even I can't find anything there.

They are now changing the name of the site to FAILBook.

Holy crap... more stats & post saying that Facebook is the new Resource for News. Some say that FB gets more hits for news sources than Google.

I find that hard to believe. In fact so did many other people, one of which was Danny Sullivan of Search Engine Land. He wrote a slight rant about IF or How Facebook or Google compare for News Traffic. You can see his post Stat Rant: Does Facebook Trumps Google For News & Can’t We Measure Twitter Correctly?

I know that I follow our local news stations on Twitter...I can see all the links to stories they have featured & many times Breaking News is on their twitter before they even get it on the TV news.

I do not follow any of the Big News Paper sites. I don't follow them anywhere, I don't even read them at all unless I see a tweet to a story.
I wouldn't know how to find their news stories on Facebook unless they had a Fan Page, then I guess you would get their updates.

I have never found a single news paper that I would follow. If I hear of something happening, then I go to Google, type it in a search, & then look at the Latest Results.

Hmmm, guess I am not one that is helping out the Facebook stats. Maybe I should just go play FarmFish. Yeah they now have FarmFish...WTH?????? Hit the HIDE Button fast!

I am having a bit of a hard time being convinced that FaceBook has the value that some are boasting. Also if you count the clicks that you make in 5 minutes that adds up to allot of clicks if you are on there for an hour. I'm guesstimating I click on the average of 400 to 500 clicks an hour, they add up faster than you may think. and for those people that spend 8 to 16 hrs a day It would be easy to see how page views add up.

Page views or not, I say the more exposure you can get where ever you are the better. You aren't going to meet great people sitting in a closet.

I've heard a lot of people are pissed at FB because of privacy issues and are thinking of pulling out. Are you getting the same news over there in the States?

The news is the same put I don't see it happening, most of these people don't know anything else. I do see where there is value on the networking side and meeting new people for many different reasons, as far as marketing that is doable but like anything it all takes time. Also there is allot of education involved it seems like the majority of people just do what they do at the level they have become accustom to and are kind of stuck there. People seem to stick with their wall and profile tabs there really is so much more on the site, kind of a tunnel vision thing I guess. But as far as people leaving I just don't see it, there really in no alternative that is similar really. I just wish the links were worth something.
